Click here for a youtube how to video showing how to open your gateway and gain access to the cellular modem.

There are two upgrade scenarios:

1 - If your gateway already has a SIMCOM SIM7080G modem you will only need to install the GPS antenna.  Carefully connect the "ipex" connector (tiny little gold connector at the end of the antenna cable) from the antenna to the mating connector on the cellular modem USB stick labeled "GPS".

2- if your gateway does not have a SIMCOM SIM7080G modem you will need to replace the existing USB cellular modem with the SIMCOM SIM7080G modem and install the GPS antenna.

In both upgrade scenarios adhere the GPS antenna using the provided double stick to the underside of the gateway lid and carefully replace the lid making sure you do not pinch any of the antenna wires.

Your gateway may need a firmware update to begin reporting the GPS position.  To see the current position log in to your account, go to the job site the gateway is currently assigned to, click on the "Sensors" button, and then look for the Type 100 Gateway Performance sensor.  Click on the "map" link to open a new window with a google map showing the gateway's last reported location.  Note that it may take several minutes for the GPS receiver to acquire a position fix and time to first fix (TTFF) will be impacted by overhead signal obstructions.  Note that GPS is a "best effort" service and just like with your phone GPS signal can be blocked by overhead obstructions.
